Pixie Scheme implements the Scheme variant of the Lisp programming language, including nearly all of "R3 Report" Scheme. It requires a Macintosh Plus or better, at least a megabyte of memory, and version 6 or later of Macintosh System Software. A HyperCard help stack, "Pixie Scheme Help", has detailed documentation: It will run with HyperCard 1.25.
Improvements in this release include a rudimentary compiler and a fair amount of on╨line help. For other changes, see the "New" section of the help stack.
If you have a previous release of Pixie Scheme, you will probably need to DELETE THE OLD PIXIE SCHEME AND ITS WORLDS (or back them up), and then REBUILD YOUR DESKTOP, before the new version will work correctly. (To rebuild the desktop, hold down the command and option keys while starting or restarting your Macintosh, until you see the dialog box about rebuilding the desktop.)
To get started quickly, make sure "PixieScheme.NoFPP" and "PixieScheme-init.s" are in the same folder, then double╨click "Pixie.NoFPP.world". (Other parts of the release will not work on some Macintoshes ╤ see the help stack for details.)
Don't forget to make backups.
Pixie Scheme is user╨supported software. If you wish to use Pixie Scheme for your own personal, non╨commercial use, go ahead; but if so, perhaps you would be willing to send me a donation of one dollar. I am ╔
